Terry W. Harris, 70, Tuscumbia, Alabama passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Shoals Hospital. He was a native of Franklin County and a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Raised in the city of Chicago, he moved back to Russellville after being discharged from the Air Force where he served in Southeast Asia as a helicopter mechanic for the 40th Air Rescue Squadron. He was a member of VFW Post 5184 and American Legion Post 64. He retired from Celotex.

Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral services with military honors will begin at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Vernon Hood. Burial will be in East Franklin Cemetery, Phil Campbell.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Shelby Hallman Harris; son, Jason Harris; daughter, Robyn Amerson and husband, Tom; grandson, Brett Suddith; granddaughter, Chelsea Suddith; stepgrandsons, Marcus Amerson and Zachary Amerson; sister, Linda Smith and husband, Johnny; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde “Pete” and Lorene Champion Harris; in-laws, Matthew and Irene Hallman; and infant brother, Alan Hugh Harris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors. If neither of these is acceptable, please consider an organization that helps children or veterans. “Forever Thankful to God to be an American.”
