Ronald E. Nichols, 79, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Dementia.

Visitation will be today, February 3, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. at Tuscumbia Church of Christ with the service following at 3 p.m. Don McGuyer and Dalton Wright will officiate the service.

Ron was a native and lifelong residence of Tuscumbia. He was a past member of the National Guard in Tuscumbia for ten years and a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ. He retired from Reynolds Metals after 40 years of service. Ron was a good man who was loved not only by his family but by his friends and neighbors also. He was always willing to help them any way he could. Ron was a master craftsman in woodworking. He loved mending and repairing antique furniture and building treasures for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his by his beloved son, Ronald Kenneth Nichols; brother, Jim Nichols; parents, Raymond, Sr. and Elizabeth Nichols; and sister, Mary Alice Pennington.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Imogene Irons Nichols; daughter, Monica N. Wright (Matt); son, Greg Nichols; grandchildren, Russ Nichols, Mitchell Nichols (Kathy), Sarah Nichols Weese (David), Dalton Wright, and Sawyer Wright; great-grandchildren, Peyton Nichols and Thomas Weese; daughter-in-law, Sheila Nichols; brother, Raymond Nichols Jr.; and sister, Lorraine Olive.

Pallbearers are Carl Olive, Charlie Olive, Justin Overton, Mitchell Nichols, Russ Nichols, Matt Wright, Sawyer Wright, and Chris Hand.

The family expresses special thanks to his extended family, the staff, volunteers and resident families at Mitchell Hollingsworth who took special care for Ron with dignity and respect. He was a resident there for six years. The family also expresses special thanks to Community Care Hospice especially, Denise James.
