James Archie Hampton, 92, died January 28, 2019. His funeral service will be held Sunday at First Baptist Church Decatur at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30. He will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery. Brother Roger Jenkins is officiating.
Archie was born September 2, 1926, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He served one year in the Army during WWII. He graduated from Georgetown College and went on and graduated from Southern Theological Seminary. He served as Minister of Education at Central Baptist for 33 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha. He is survived by his daughter, Denice Ising (Don); his son, Rodney Hampton; two granddaughters, Natalie DaLuz (Carlos) and Bess Annerton (Derek) and five great-grandchildren.
He always had a joke and has left a permanent smile on our hearts.
