F.12.18.19 Carolyn Hamner.jpgCarolyn Richardson Hamner, 81, of Killen died on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Shoals Hospital.

Visitation will be held today, December 18, 2018, noon to 2 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Stan Dean and Ben Siegel officiating. Burial will follow in Atlas Church Cemetery.

Carolyn was kind, patient, classic, and beautiful. She had a soft heart, a witty sense of humor, an impeccable sense of style, and an unselfish generosity of spirit that touched all who knew her. She loved old movies, was always up for an adventure or a shopping outing, and adored her faithful canine companions, Bo and Kirk. Over the years, she worked at the Lauderdale County Courthouse, Flagg Utica, Reynolds and State Farm. She was a member of Killen Church of Christ. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, and they loved her more than she could possibly have known.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Hamner; parents, Albert Lee and Ophelia Odell Richardson; brother, Robert Earl Richardson; sister, Yvonne Richardson; and son-in-law, Jim Heaps.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura Heaps and Angela Hamner (Kevin Gooch); son, Keith Hamner (Norma); grandchildren, Jessica Mays, Jared Heaps, Courtney Siegel (Ben), Kelsey Thigpen (Justin), Micah Hamner, Griffin Gooch and Sophie Gooch; sister, Wanda Sanders (J.D.); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Micah Hamner, Griffin Gooch, Kevin Gooch, Justin Thigpen, friends and nephews.
