Dorothy Darene Honey Dorothy Darene Honey, 90, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven Wednesday, November 21, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. The celebration of Mrs. Honey’s life will begin with visitation of family and friends on Saturday, November 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will be directly following at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ted Vafeas officiating. Interment will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Honey was born to John and Della Doss on January 6, 1928, in Adamsville, Tennessee. She graduated from Sheffield High School and married David J. Honey, Sr. in 1947. While raising her family in Colbert Heights, Mrs. Honey attended Colbert Heights Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Honey worked as a teacher’s aide for many years at Colbert Heights High School and Hatton Elementary School. After moving to Muscle Shoals in 1987, she was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

Mrs. Honey was a Godly woman and a strong prayer warrior who could often be heard praying for her family and others. Mrs. Honey was devoted to her husband and family, and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was a special place filled with laughter and warmth.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, David J. Honey, Sr.; her parents, John and Della Doss; and ten siblings, Russell, Harold, Lamar, Ilene, Lonette, John Leonard, Lester, Oueda, James Riley, and AK.

Surviviors include her three children, Brenda Crow (Glen), David Honey, Jr. (Sandra), and Melanie Montgomery (Bobby), all of Tuscumbia; six grandchildren, Chelbi Andersen (Rod), Josh Honey III (Cindy), Kim Williams (Clay), Cheri Grimmitt (Ged), Kirby Montgomery, and Katie Oakley (Kyle); ten great-grandchildren, Christian and Belle Williams, Caleb and Abby Honey, Noah and Lucy Grimmitt, Addison Simpson and Riley Montgomery, and Ava and Connor Oakley; and her sister, Nelda Emmons Strong.

Pallbearers will include Josh Honey, III, Ged Grimmitt, Clay Williams, Christian Williams, Kyle Oakley, Tim Barnes, Caleb Honey, and Noah Grimmitt.

The family would like to thank Denise James with Community Care Hospice, and a special thanks go to these beloved caretakers: Sherry Owens, Rose Johnson, Libby Williams, Donna Sparks, Belle Williams, and Brother’s Keeper.
