Donald “Don” Shiers, 75, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Visitation will be Saturday, November 17th from noon to 2 p.m. at The Pentecostals of Florence. The service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Central Community Cemetery.
Don was born February 26, 1943 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to parents Alva and Myrtle Shiers. He joined Seymour AFB, NC in 1961, and retired as Master Sergeant in 1984.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Alva Gage Shiers; mother, Myrtle Shiers: and brothers, Shorty Shiers, Clifford Shiers and Keith Shiers.
Survivors are wife, Judy Shiers; adopted children, Brian Keith Shiers, Bradley James Shiers and Brittany Lee Shiers; stepchildren, James Sharp (Lori), Vicki Baxter, Brian Sharp (Kathy) and Angela Kelley (Brian); grandchildren, Tyler Sharp (Amber), Ashley Avery (Cody), Luke Baxter (Brittany), Savannah Kerr (Josh), Jasmyn Lawson (Ryan), Trevor Kelley and Trenton Kelley; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Johnny Wood, Jason Wood, Jeremy Wood, Kyle Lovelace, Jeff Lack, Mitchel Lack, Jordan Lack, and Josh Wood. Honorary Pallbearers are Brothers of The Pentecostals of Florence.
The family would like to thank all who have visited and called. They would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at ECM Hospital for their excellent care and service provided.
