Fern Sloan Gamble – Obituary

Mrs. Fern Sloan Gamble, age 92, of Eclectic, AL passed away peacefully at her home on Monday October 29, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family and close friends. Mrs. Gamble attended Good Hope Baptist Church in Eclectic, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. Jody Gamble officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis G. Devers (Mike) of Eclectic, AL; two grandsons, Scot Gentle (Kathyrn) of Mt. Brook, AL and Matthew Devers of Millbrook, AL; two great grandsons, Nathan Gentle of Birmingham, AL and Smith Gentle of Mt. Brook, AL; one brother, Jim Sloan of Bridgeport, AL; three sisters, Mariah Dickinson Auger of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Merbil Reeves (John) of Scottsboro, AL, and Melba Sloan of Scottsboro, AL; several nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, W.E. (Gene) Gamble, in 1993, and one brother, Ray Sloan of Adrian, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Good Hope Baptist Church in Eclectic, AL, or the charity of one’s choice.
