ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning a break-in on Tuesday, September 18:

“Tuesday morning the police department received a call about a burglary at the Wash and Gossip on Hobbs Street.

A door going to a storage room had been broken into. The video showed a male and a female entered the business and forcibly entered the storage room.

Once in the room they pried the change machine open but were unable to get any of the money. Investigator Jonathan Caldwell developed Willie Bernard Johnson as a suspect in the case.

Yesterday afternoon Caldwell arrested Johnson for burglary 3rd degree. Johnson was booked at the police department and transferred top to the county jail.”
