Mr. Ray H. Reid, 98, died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Laney Greenhouse, Methodist Senior Services, Tupelo Campus following a long, joyful life. He was born April 15, 1920 in Memphis, Tennessee, where he lived most of his life. Mr. Reid served in the U.S. Army Air Force, Company B, as Staff Sergeant, stationed in the Asiatic-Pacific region during WW II. He owned various construction businesses in the Memphis area before retiring. He was an avid golfer, playing in many tournaments throughout the South for many years. He was a faithful member of Idlewild Presbyterian Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Ray was a loving husband and son.
He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Dorothy Parrish Reid; his mother, Mae Reid Taylor and step-father, Thomas Taylor. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and caregivers at Traceway Manor and the Greenhouses.
There will be no local services. A private family burial will be at Memorial Park in Memphis, Tennesse next to his wife and mother. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
