Dorothy Ann Welch Parmer, 80, transformed from this life to the life eternal at North Miss. Medical Center after several years of declining health. Born Dec. 4, 1937 in Tupelo to Lillian Tully Welch and Claude Welch, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dot’s primary focus, all her life was her 6 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mamaw Dot loved children and was a doting, loving and caring soul whose devotion to her family, their families and anyone in need or needing loving will always be legendary. Dot was a master cook and loved for her home to be filled with family and friends especially on Sunday’s. She had a fabulous sense of humor, a contagious laugh and was a joy to family and friends everywhere. She loved to talk and was an interesting conversationalist. Dot enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles, playing jokes on everyone and sharing her remarkable sense of humor. She worked for over 35 years as a bookkeeper for Bryan-Rogers Auto Parts, later NAPA. She was a longtime member of Auburn Baptist Church where she once taught Sunday School and Training Union. This wonderful, unique soul will be missed by a grateful family and large host of friends.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Bob O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM-8 PM today (Tue. 7/24) and from 10 AM-service time on Wednesday all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Dot leaves her family to mourn her passing; her husband of 57 1/2 years, Clyde Parmer, Sr., her children, Denise Parmer, Marion Parmer (Lana) , Mike Parmer (Sunnie), Deb Parmer, Suzy Parmer (Johnny) and Ricky Parmer (Amy). Her grandchildren, Nikki Parmer, Karli Rodgers, Ben Parmer, whom she raised as a son (Samantha), Gracie Owen and Cameron Hall. Her great- grandchildren, Stormi Brown, Sky Gilland, Jaxson Parmer and Maci Rodgers. Her brothers, Billy Welch (Pat) and David Welch, whom she raised as her own (Charlotte). Numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Kitty-Kitty. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Faye Saxson and Pat Lawson and a grandson, Austin Parmer.
Pallbearers will be James, Jeff, Jerry, Mike and Ben Parmer and Clayton Mask, Andy Hodges and Jerry Rodgers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elmo Cloyd and Joe Wesley Gaines.
