Helen Louise Jackman Webb – Obituary

Helen Louise Jackman Webb was born November 13, 1929, to Hugh F. and Margaret Cummings Jackman in Haverhill, MA. She graduated in 1947 from Haverhill High School, where she served as class vice president and received numerous honors. She received her associate’s degree from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1949. In an accounting class there, she met the man who would become her husband. On Easter Sunday (April 9), 1950, she married Paul H. Webb, who predeceased her in 1994. She and her husband lived in Massachusetts and began their family in Mississippi before relocating to Huntsville in 1967.

Mrs. Webb was a 51-year resident of Huntsville. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Questors Sunday School class and choir. She retired from the Huntsville City Schools in 1991, after supporting the vocational education program in various roles for 23 years. She enjoyed traveling, needlework, and gardening.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Virginia Jackman Walters and Margaret Jackman Martin. She is survived by her son, Paul H. Webb, Jr., of Broadlands, VA, and daughter, Virginia Webb Branam (Gaylon) of Somerville, AL; grandson, Derek Branam (Alexis) of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister, Lillian Jackman Rand (Joseph) of Port St. Lucie, FL; sister-in-law, Doris Webb of Hendersonville, TN; several nieces and nephews; and numerous treasured neighbors and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 22, at 2:00 p.m. with the funeral at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, followed by interment at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, Hospice of North Alabama, or the charity of your choice.
