Amos Van Barksdale age 84 of Athens, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Barksdale was born September 12, 1933 in Limestone County, AL to Thomas Van Barksdale and Ida Evelyn Locke Barksdale.
Services will be Sunday, May 6, 2018 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn, John Gibson and Trenton Barksdale officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barksdale was a United States Navy Veteran and retired from Wolverine Tube. He loved farming, Atlanta Braves Baseball and fishing.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife, Polly Barksdale; one son, Van Barksdale and wife, Mellanie; three grandchildren, Trenton Barksdale and fiance’ Emily McLemore, Jackson Barksdale and Leighton Barksdale; two sisters, Virginia Pepper and Barbara Turner; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Barksdale, Wade Pepper, Brad Turner, Steve Turner, Bryant Pepper and Hal Pepper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marshall Pepper, Jimmy Owen and Jim Minor.
