Hilda Heaton Brock – Obituary

Funeral service for Hilda Heaton Brock, 83, will be Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Center Springs United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Campbell and Rev. Carol Lambert officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service, at the Church.   Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Center Springs UMC.

Mrs. Brock died on Thursday, March 22, 2018 .  She was born  November 25, 1934, in Habersham County, GA,  to Vernon W. Heaton and Clarkey T. Heaton .

First and foremost, she loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Somerville Senior Center, where she served as President of the Somerville Senior Association. She was an avid banker in the game of Monopoly. Her smile was contagious and could light up a room like no other. She loved life and all the blessings God had given her. Known to her family and friends, affectionately, as “Granny”.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Carroll Brock, her parents, a daughter: Susie Slappey and two sisters: Margaret Johnson and Thelma Helton.

She had moved from south Georgia to live with her grandchildren, Patrick and Tammy Slappey.

Family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the staff at Summerford Rehab, Huntsville Hospital and Hospice of the Valley.

James Ira Slappey, Albany, GA and
Wade Slappey, Mobile, AL

One Brother:
Ronald Heaton, Coolidge, GA

One Brother-in-law:
L.D. Johnson, Ochlocknee, GA

Thirteen Grandchildren

Twenty-Seven Great Grandchildren

One Great Great Grandchild

Pallbearers will be Sam Garrone, David Fisher, Joseph Santos, Carson Slappey, Dillion Slappey, and Jordan Seymore.
