Ellis E. Newell, 82, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at North Ms. Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. He was born December 10, 1935 in Red Bay, AL. He was co-owner of Red Bay TV Cable and had worked as a security guard at Sunshine Homes, Red Bay, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.
Services will be Friday, January 19, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS with Bro. Ray Burks, Bro. Lou Zemek and Bro. Jack Maroon officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens, Belmont, MS. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years – Wanda Pounders Newell, Belmont, MS; one son – Jason Ellis Newell, Belmont, MS; two brothers – Jerry Newell (Dora) and Robert Newell (Kay) all of Red Bay, AL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Newell and Lola Stanphill Newell, one sister, Elaine Newell Lindley and one brother, Bill Newell.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Cox, Chris Ratliff, Mike Harris, Donald Letson, Stephen Funderburk and Mark Nichols. Honorary pallbearer will be Mike Stockton.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Belmont, MS.
