Phillip Garrett Sampley, age 56, of Montgomery, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. Phillip was born Feb. 4, 1961 in Indiana to Rebecca Maynard Sampley and Curtis Earl Sampley.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Johnna Sampley; son, Tyler Sampley; parents, Fort Deposit; sister, Angela Pitman and brother-in-law, Gary Pitman, Decatur; mother-in-law, Janet Appleton, Decatur; and brother-in-law, Michael Appleton (Tonya), Decatur; and niece, Kaitlyn Appleton.

Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse James Sampley and Annie Lou Sampley, and Roy Thomas Maynard and Mavis Maynard.

Philip fought a life long battle with diabetes. His faith in Christ helped him with that struggle, for he was known as a Christian man. He held his family close and delighted in his love for his parents, his wife, and especially his son, Tyler. A family member said, “his greatest joy in life was Tyler.” He enjoyed motorcycles, the ACA band, and classic rock and roll music.

Memorials may be made in Phillip Sampley’s memory to Faulkner University for furthering Tyler Sampley’s education.

A celebration of life visitation for Phillip will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WhiteChapel-GreenwoodFH.com for the Sampley family.
