Bettye Frances Hannah Grisham – Obituary

Bettye Frances Hannah Grisham, age 85, passed away Jan. 7, 2018. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, from noon-2 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with her nephew, Steve Owens, and Brother Stan Dean officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Grisham was born and raised in Limestone County. She was a 1950 graduate of West Limestone High School where she was the valedictorian of her class. She married Thomas Grisham in 1952, and they moved to Lauderdale County. She worked at Rogers Department Store, Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, the Town of Killen, First Federal Savings and Loan, and Alabama Welding and Machine. She was a long time member of Killen Church of Christ.

Mrs. Grisham loved cooking chicken stew and pecan pies for family and helping her son in his machine shop. She also loved her neighbors in the Bellemeade subdivision.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Cleo Hannah. Survivors include her children, Malinda Murphy (Joel) and Mark Grisham; grandchildren, Justin Murphy (Tasha), Eric Murphy, and Hannah Womble (Drew); brother, Billy Hannah (Rebecca); sister, Janet Owens; very special nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Dagwood.

Pallbearers will be Justin Murphy, Eric Murphy, Drew Womble, Benjie Owens, Rick Helms, and Nick Kirby. Ralph Parker, Paul Smith, and Kenneth Aday will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses in the ICU at Shoals Hospital and to Dr. Kenneth Rose for the excellent care she was given. A special thanks go to Glenda Moore for her friendship.
