Mr. William Lloyd “Bill” Warren, 84, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born January 9, 1933 in Pontotoc County to the late Carl Otis Warren and Ethel Smith Warren. He grew up on the family farm in Pontotoc Co picking cotton and learning the values of hard work and respect. A patriotic American, Bill volunteered for the U. S. Army in 1952 and served until his honorable discharged in 1954 as a PFC. While in service, he married Madelyn Myers on January 16, 1954 in Bennettsville, S.C. She died November 7, 2017, a marriage of 63 years. After returning home, Bill worked in the garment and furniture industries of the area including Oakland Furniture in Okolona. He retired as Supervisor of Mill and Framing at Tupelo Plywood. Bill loved his land and enjoyed nothing more than keeping it up especially chores on his tractor. In 1977, he enlisted in the Mississippi National Guard in the 223rd Engineering Batillion retiring in 1983 with the rank of E-7. He was a master wood worker, enjoyed socializing and watching westerns. He was a longtime member of the Okolona Volunteer Fire Department where he was recognized for his leadership. He and his late wife were longtime members of the Tupelo Church of God.
A celebration of life service, with military honors, will be at Noon Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. David Laman officiating. His daughter, Janet, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 AM- service time only.
Survivors include two sons, Carl Warren (Kim Kitchens) of Pontotoc and Ronnie Warren (DeWonne) of Tupelo; two daughters, Janet Rose Harmon (John) and Jerlyn Copeland (David), all of Pontotoc; three grandchildren, Kelly Warren, Austin Altom, and Will Warren; five great-grandchildren, Hudson, Riley, Austin, Ivy, and Maci , a sister, Lenore Isbell of Tupelo and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Warren, Carl Warren, Austin Altom, Will Warren, Jerry Moore, and Timmy Turner.
