Chuckie Wayne “Chuck” Tackett, 58, died Saturday morning, October 14, 2017 at his residence on the Lee/Chickasaw County Line after a struggle with cancer. Chuck was born in Okolona on October 25, 1958 to the late Herbert Tackett and Shirley Morris Tackett. He was employed most of his life in the furniture industry with his last employment being with United Furniture before he became disable. Chuck loved the outdoors and had a special fondness for what he referred to as “The Bottom”-a wonderful piece of God’s creation at ole Cotton Gin Port near Wren, where he spent countless hours. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was one of the biggest Ole Miss Rebel fans anywhere. Chuck was a gentle soul and was fond of his boxer dog, Ellie. He was a member of Carnation Baptist Church in Okolona.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 4 PM Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at Faith Outreach Church with his brother, Bro. Jimmy Tackett and his brother in law, Bro. Danny Owen officiating. Visitation will be from 2 PM-service time on Monday only at Faith Outreach. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving the family.
Survivors include his daughter; Chasity Henry (Carl) of Okolona. His mother, Shirley Morris Tackett Benefield. His siblings, Jimmy (Susan) Tackett, Betty (Danny) Owen, Jean Farley, Billy (Donna) Harris all of Okolona and Larry (Margaret Tackett of Troy. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bro. Herbert Tackett on March 11, 1997. A special thanks is extended to Quinton “Dub” and “Miss” Jerry Harlow and Jimmy Harlow, his special “Bottom” buddies and caregivers.
Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends in “the Bottom” at Cotton Gin Hill, Joey Holliman, Randy Corley and his nephews. Memorials may be made to NMMC Hospice Care, 830 South Gloster, Tupelo, MS. 38801
