Gene Elbert Bonds, age 81, of Sheffield, Alabama, died peacefully at his home on Friday, September 22, 2017. There will be a memorial service on Monday, Sept. 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. Douglas Briggs and Doug Stanley will be officiating.
Mr. Bonds was a native of Corinth, Mississippi, and was a member of the Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was also a retired machinist and worked for Reynolds for almost 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Mae Bell Bonds; son, Gene “Kip” Bonds, Jr.; brothers, John Bonds Jr. and Randy Bonds; sisters, Linda Bobo and Peggy Essary.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Briggs Bonds; sons, Ricky Bonds and David Bonds and wife Denise; sisters, Wanda Reno and Vicky Whitaker, a host of nieces, nephews, and loving brothers and sisters-in-law.
