William A. “Billy” Hinds, 83 of Arab, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville.
Mr. Hinds was born December 17, 1933 in Arab to John J. Hinds Sr. and Myrtle Lois Johnson Hinds. He was a 1952 graduate of Arab High School and owned Hinds Scrap Metal in Arab. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hinds was a charter member and former member of the Arab Civitan Club and a member of the United Methodist Men’s Group.
He was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hinds is survived by his wife: Caroline Hinds; his son and daughter-in-law: Doug and Tanya Hinds, his daughters and son-in-law: Gina and Craig Pearce and Jill Hinds; his grandchildren: Sam Pearce, Luke Pearce, Lauren Hinds and Will Hinds. He was preceded in death by his parents: John J. and Myrtle Lois Hinds and three brothers: John Hinds Jr., Gene Hinds and M.L. Hinds.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 2, 2017 at Arab First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve West, Rev. Michael Shirley and Rev. Roy Bryant, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Keith Meade, Greg Hinds, Steve Hinds, Sam Pearce, Luke Pearce, Will Hinds and Paul Crawford.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mitch Smith and David Robbins.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Sunday July 2, 2017 at Arab First United Methodist Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arab First United Methodist Church Building Fund or Shepherd’s Cove Hospice at 408 Martling Rd Albertville, Al 35951.
