Graveside service for Donnie L. Reeves age 80 of Hartselle will be Monday, July 3, 2017 at 10:00am at the Reeves Family cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Reeves, who was born on April 4, 1937 in Morgan County to Lona Lonzo “Jack” Reeves and Ethel Tapscott Reeves, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his home on the family farm.
Donnie was the owner of Reeves Peach Farms in Hartselle, Alabama. He expanded the scope of the 1835 family farm when he planted the first peach trees in 1959. He also graduated from the Police Academy and had worked as an Alabama Conservation Officer. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Tommie Reeves and a son-in-law; John Waddle.
He is survived by his wife; Shelby Morgan Reeves, 1 son; Mike Reeves (Lynn), 4 daughters; Donna Kirkpatrick (Larry), Cindy Elmore (Joe), Nikki Brannon (Conley) and April Freeman (Jay).
13 Grandchildren; Mary Virginia Halbrooks, David Reeves, Jackson Reeves, Michael Kirkpatrick, Drew Kirkpatrick, Anna Marie Compton, Joel Elmore, Josiah Elmore, Morgan Brannon, Trip Brannon, Blake Freeman, Luke Freeman and Eli Freeman, 1 Great-Grandchild; Rory Compton and a nephew; Eddie Reeves.
