Mr. Aubrey “Wayne” Smith, 79, went to be with his heavenly Father, Sunday morning, June 18th, 2017 at The Meadows, Fulton, MS, after an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1937 in Tupelo. MS, to Clint Smith and Imogene McMillian Smith. He was a soybean farmer and worked many years at Skyline Furniture. He loved to fish from the creek bank, attend the American Legion dances, liked flowers, coffee, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
A service celebrating his life will be at 6:00 p.m., today (Monday, June 19, 2017) in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Talmadge Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to service time.
Wayne is survived by two children Lisa Cook (Vince), and Karen Williams (Mike) and their mother, Joyce Smith, all of Mooreville; his siblings, Ruby Jean Moore of Florence, AL, Clint Smith, Jr. of Plantersville, Richard Smith, Cleveland Smith (Dixie), Billy Smith, and Robert Smith, (Carolyn), all of Tupelo, Talmadge Smith (Lee) of Marietta, and Joe Smith (Cindy) of Dorsey, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and one sister, Maydell Smith.
