ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement regarding the theft of a lawnmower and a trailer from Dixie Auto Parts on Tuesday, April 11.  The Chief is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man:

“On Tuesday morning the police department received a call from Dixie Auto Parts on US 72 about a trailer and lawnmower being stolen.

Around 11:00 a male was at the store looking at a trailer and mower. He agreed to buy the equipment and they hooked the trailer up to his jeep and loaded the mower. When the employee went into the business to get the paperwork and start the payment process the man left.

The mower is described as a Toro Titan valued at $6964.46. The trailer was a black single axle valued at $650.00.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 6 foot, late 40’s to early 50’s, balding with a mustache. He has a full sleeve tattoo his left arm. He was last seen wearing a neon green shirt and jeans. He was driving a 200-2017 Jeep Wrangler 2 door silver with a black top. The jeep may have a Tennessee tag.

I have attached several photos of the suspect and the Jeep. If anyone has any information we ask they call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
