Stephanie Dian Smith aka Stephanie Dian Cooper
ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning the arrest of a woman who has been charged with capital murder charges today, April 12. More information will be forthcoming on this case on Thursday, April 13.
“This evening investigators have arrested Stephanie Dian Smith also known as Stephanie Dian Cooper for capital murder.
Smith is 25 years old and lives at 12166 Lakeview Street in Athens. Smith is being booked at this time at the police department and will be transferred to the county jail shortly.
In July of 2016 Smith’s 4 year old daughter passed away at Huntsville Hospital. Smith’s arrest is in connection with her daughter’s death.
Investigators are continuing to work on the case at this time and I can’t release any more information at this time.”
