Funeral for Robert Hamilton Moneypenny, age 90, of Decatur, will be Friday, April 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church, Decatur. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church chapel. Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery.

Mr. Moneypenny, who died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his residence, was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Bette Ringo Moneypenny; two daughters, Ann Allen (Robert) of Decatur and Martha White (Michael) of Arden, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Joshua Britt, Paul Britt Little, Timothy Britt, Brett Allen, Penny White Williams and Ellen White Dumaine and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Moneypenny was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteer work at the church and the local hospital. He co-owned Moneypenny Hardware in Louisville until his retirement at age 65. He was a veteran of World War II.

The family requests memorial gifts to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or Courageous Church in lieu of flowers. Designated gifts for the Children’s Home can be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1667, Decatur, AL 35603. Gifts designated to Courageous Church can be sent to P.O. Box 6166, Huntsville, AL 35813.
