A memorial service for Gloria Jones Hitt, 75, of Decatur, will be Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Caddo Congregational Christian Church.
Mrs. Hitt died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at home. She was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Decatur to the late Jessie James and Vernia Jones. She was preceded in death by her son, Frankie Hamilton Sutton; Daughter, Edna Mechelle Harris; husband, Eddie Boyce Hitt; three brothers, Sherman Lee Jackson; Jessie James Jones Jr. and Jessie Melvin Jackson; and three sisters, Delaney Nell Cline, Edna Earl White and Delphine Jackson.
Survivors include one daughter, Vonda Lynn Sutton, Decatur; brother-in-law, Alvin J. Hitt, San Diego, California; one sister, Vernie Mae Young, Falkville; and two granddaughters, Robin Lynne Williams and Andrea Winchester, both of Huntsville; and her dog, Aubrey Lynne.
