Carolyn Rose Walker Massey, 69, of Double Springs, entered into rest on March 28, 2017.
Mrs. Massey was born on January 28, 1948, in Haleyville, Alabama. Carolyn attended Haleyville High School and has been a member of Double Springs Church of Christ for 25 years. Somewhere along the way she got the nickname “Crazy Carol”. She had a variety of jobs that included, sewing, house cleaning and shampooing hair at Young’s Hair Center in Jasper. Carolyn enjoyed buck dancing, going to thrift stores, making people laugh, telling everyone she loved them but mostly just loving her family. She was a loving wife to her husband Billy Ray for 52 years and 1 day.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6pm-9pm at First Baptist Church Double Springs, where services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2pm. Vance Hutton and Gene Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs cemetery.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, Ricky Massey, Justin Rowe and his wife Adrienne; daughter, Vickey Rowe; sister, Kathleen Cook. She was “Maw Maw” to 10 grandchildren, Ashley Gable, her husband Bobby, Jarrod Massey, his wife Amanda, Chelsey Massey, Brody Massey, Dawson Martin, his wife Amber, Hope Martin, Zachary Rowe, Kaiden Rowe, Raylon Rowe; 3 great grandchildren, Emily Gable, Colton Gable, Brentlee Massey; neices, Dana Cain, Tamara Lane, Alyssa Hood; nephew, Johnny Wayne Lane and a host of other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen V. and Fralee Walker; brothers, James and Quinton Walker; sisters, Lafaria Bridgemon, Deretha Tomlison, Essivee (Pat) Tippin, and Maudie Mashburn.
