Dr. Ken Kitts-President University of North Alabama

FLORENCE-On Friday, February 24 University of North Alabama President Ken Kitts released a statement concerning the New Florence Middle School:

The University of North Alabama remains committed to seeking an amicable resolution to questions surrounding the new Florence Middle School. We understand that the Florence City Board of Education has agreed to suspend the bid award process for 29 days. We welcome that news. The University sees this as an opportunity to have a meaningful discussion on the issues involved. Toward that end, I propose the creation of a joint task force with Florence City Schools to explore all options. I am personally committed to seeing this process work and wish to use this opportunity to reach out to interim Superintendent Connie Wallace and FCBOE President Bill Griffin to invite them to work with me on the creation of this task force. Time is of the essence, and we need to move quickly to resolve this issue.”
