Doris Jean Hargrove Hames – Obituary

Graveside service for Doris Jean Hargrove Hames, age 84, of Decatur will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hames was born Feb. 26, 1932 in Benton, Illinois to Robert Ellis and Clevie Reed Hargrove. She was the youngest of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lena Somers, Betty Canaday, Thelma Bolerjack and Helen Williams; and four brothers, Evan, Charles, Robert and Norvel.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Franklin; three daughters, Pamela (Darrell) Milligan of Decatur, Diane (Greg) Couch of Hartselle and Lori (Doug) Cummings of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Christopher Milligan, Samantha Whitaker (Brad), Joseph Whitaker (Andrea), Rebecca Mitchell (Stephen), Cessily Daniel and Kaitlin Couch, all of Decatur; four great-grandchildren, Marqus Dunn, Cameron Allen, Kirsten Whitaker and Riley Mitchell, all of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs Hames was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a Christian and loved singing and had a beautiful voice. She also loved to pull pranks on her family. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gentiva/Kindred Hospice or Alz.org.
