Don Mackey Spradling, 76, died suddenly Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center ER. He was born August 28, 1940, to Omar and Delsie McFerrin Spradling. He was a member of the Center Star Methodist Church. He worked sixteen years at Penn Tire. He was Deputy Sheriff for two years before being elected Itawamba County Sheriff from 1980-1984. He worked for Tommy Brooks Oil Company for 28 years. He served on the Tombigbee Electric Power Association Board of Directors for 21 years until his death. He was a member of the Itawamba County Historical Society for 10 years. He was an avid conversationalist who enjoyed gardening and talking politics. He loved being around his family and friends.

Services will be at 10 a. m. Friday, January 27, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Grady Davidson and Bro. Buddy Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Guntharp Spradling; one son, Mark Spradling (Carla), both of Mantachie; three daughters, Beth Hallmark (Dudley) and Tonuia Dill (Michael), both of Mantachie, and Brandie Petty (Joe Timmons) of Tupelo; eight grandchildren, Megan Robinson, Brandon Spradling, Cory Spradling, Anna Grace Stupka, Ryan Taylor, Jody Dill, Summer Dill, and James Thomas Crabb; seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Keith Spradling; four brothers, Randall, Billy, Trenton, and Joel Spradling; one sister, Rena Grimes; one great grandchild, Landon Spradling; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Cory Spradling, Michael Sullivan, Mack Grimes, Gayle “Mule” Reynolds, Andy Spradling, and Ryan Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the T.E.P.A. Board of Directors.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Thursday, January 26, at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Itawamba County Historical Society, PO Box 7, 44 Museum Drive, Mantachie, MS 38855.
