Lonnie Cuffman Lane, 87, of Decatur, passed away Dec. 29, 2016. A visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 3, from noon until 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Lane was born in 1929, in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended Hume Fogg High in Nashville, and continued her education at The University of Tennessee and the University of Cincinnati. She was a member at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur, where she served as Secretary of the Vestry. She retired from The Alabama Department of Mental Health after 11 years as Director of Public Relations of the North Alabama Regional Hospital in Decatur. During her life, she also served as President of the Morgan County Mental Health Association and the President of DOVS (Directors of Volunteer Services.) She had been a resident of Pensacola Beach, Florida since 1997.
Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles D. Lane.
She is survived by her son, Charles D. Lane, Jr. of Birmingham; daughter, Linda Lane Burns of Decatur; grandsons, Tyler Burns, of Decatur, Ryan Burns of Decatur and Josh Lane of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Burns, Emma Smith and Peyton Sharp; daughter-in-law, Renea Lane; and granddaughter-in-law, April Burns.
