ATHENS-The Athens Police Department arrested two suspects  today…one wanted for a robbery on December 2 and the second suspect wanted for Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle.  Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement today Thursday, December 8:

“Yesterday afternoon investigators Kelly Fussell and Jonathan Caldwell located the vehicle use in the robbery on December 2, 2016 at McDonnell’s on US 72 East. Investigators located the vehicle at a residence in North East Huntsville. While watching the vehicle it left the residence. Investigators requested assistance from Huntsville Police Department. A short time later, Huntsville patrol units stopped the vehicle on Oakwood Drive. Investigators arrested Tyrone Kim Edwards Jr. for Robbery 1st degree. Edwards was transported back to the Athens Police Department where he was booked and then transferred to the county jail. Our investigation into this case is continuing and we expect more arrest in this case. “

“Jairus Lamar Ervin was arrested last night for unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle. Ervin is accused of taking a bank bag containing $5000.00 from an unoccupied vehicle on Park Place in Athens. The victim reported the money was taken on November 16, 2016 from his vehicle at the post office. Investigators Kelly Fussell and Jonathan Caldwell developed Ervin as a suspect in the case shortly after the theft. Yesterday Officer Kirk Wimberley stopped Ervin for speeding in a school zone. Wimberly contacted the investigators which interviewed and arrested Ervin. Ervin was booked at the police department and transferred to the police department. “
