Funeral for Charles Guy Terry, 84, of Courtland will be Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Courtland Baptist Church with Brother Scotty Letson and Brother Steve Agee officiating and Jackson Memory Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Courtland City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Terry, who died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born May 29, 1932 in Courtland to Amos Guy Terry and Pauline Craig Terry. He was a disabled veteran of the Korean War and a longtime employee of the Courtland and Town Creek Police Departments and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He was a longtime member of Courtland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Aldridge Terry; his parents; one brother, John Amos Terry; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Curtis.
Survivors include his daughters, Martha Kelly (Pat) of Decatur and Teresa Thompson of Muscle Shoals; four sons, Jack Terry (Cindy) of Town Creek, Mike Terry (Pam) of Fayette, Wayne Parker (Lynell) of Newport, Tennessee and Dwight Parker of Moulton; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dan Simmons, David Terry, Sandy Norwood, Joe Claborn, Timmy Dutton and Tim Murray.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy McCarley, Clarence Logston and Ambrey Reding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Courtland Baptist Church or the VFW.
