Sue Lawrence Bodkin – Obituary

Sue Lawrence Bodkin, 88 of Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Visitation will be Sunday, December 4th from 1 – 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Randy Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mrs. Bodkin was born to the Late George Lawrence and Susie Scott Bitting Lawrence on August 28, 1928. She attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscumbia, the Muscle Shoals Service League, and the Les Bon Vivant Gourmet Club. Sue was a gracious mother and wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Bodkin; son, George Lawrence Bodkin; great-grandson, Walker Floyd.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Scottie Floyd (Niles) and their children, Sue Floyd-Deaton (Dennis) and Tripp Floyd (Dawn); son, Bart Bodkin (Beverly) and their children, Kellie Poss (Joey) and Kerrie Bass (Michael); great-grandchildren, Taylor Floyd, Vivi Poss, Jacob Bass, Avery Poss and Mary Chandler Floyd.

Pallbearers will be Joe Poss, Ian Sanford, Luther Bishop, Jimmy Hughston, Harold Hughston, Johnny Walker, Dale Smith and David Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be William Earl Roper, Mike Keenum, Royce Berryman, Frank Manush, Andy Woods and Dutch Maxwell.

Mrs. Bodkin’s Family especially thanks Dr. William Heaton, Dr. Kenneth Rose, Gayzelle Pride, and Tanika Sandridge who lovingly cared for her during her illness and special thanks to all the staff of Gentiva Healthcare.
