Martha Frances (Marti) Downton passed away November 26, 2016. She was a resident of USA Health Care and Rehab Center in Falkville for Nine years.
She was born August 6, 1941 to Joseph Vincent and Dora M. Wood Vincent in Lawrence County. Mrs. Downton was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sandra Turney, and Four brothers, William, Odis, Kenneth and Jim Wood. Two Sisters, Dorothy Blake and Doris Milburn. She is survived by one sister, Alice Roper (Ben), Two Sister in laws, Mary Wood and Kathleen Wood along with Numerous Nephews and Niece and friends.
She Worked at Dot’s Restaurant in Hartselle and at a restaurant in Athens. She was known as “Marti” to many of her Friends. She was loved by those who knew her.
Mrs. Downton’s funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Grange Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
We, the Family, would like to express our love and thanks to each one at Falkville Health Care Center. Each one went above and beyond their calling to help ”Marti”. The ladies from Comfort care Hospice were so loving and kind to her to make sure she was comfortable and cared for with dignity.
Pallbearers will be Bill Wood, Lynn Wood, Michael Joe Wood, Greg Wood, Ronnie Wood and David Wood.
