With her two sons at her side, Wanda Mathias Ivey Walter departed this life for her heavenly home on November 27, 2016. Wanda was born in Huntsville on March 27, 1943, and was very proud of her status as a life-long resident of the city she loved. Her education included graduating from Huntsville High School in 1961, and later obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Business.  Ms. Walter retired after a successful career spanning just over 41 years at Marshall Space Flight Center working for NASA as a Program Analyst. She was a member of, and loved to worship our Lord, at Life Church Huntsville. Wanda enjoyed traveling here and abroad, singing in church, spending time with her friends, and square-dancing. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ms. Walter was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Beatrice Mathias, a beloved baby sister, Brenda Mathias Puckett, and two grandsons, Madison and Michael Ivey Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark Mathias Ivey (Lisa) of Corinth, Mississippi, and Michael Ray Ivey (Robin) of Harvest, Alabama; one sister, Patricia Helms (Marvin) of Scottsboro, Alabama; two brothers, Max Mathias (Millie) of Norfolk, Virginia, and Roney Mathias (Wilma) of Hollywood, Alabama. She had seven grandchildren, Cayla Ivey, Zachary Ivey, Chelsy Ivey, Benjamin Mathias Ivey (Carlie), Meaghan Throneberry, Brandon Shores, and Michael Casey Moore; and great-grandchild, Rylan Throneberry. She was awaiting the arrival of her second great-grand child, Lorie Adeline Ivey (daughter of Benjamin and Carlie Ivey) within the next few weeks.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
