Sandra Lee Knighten (Griffin)— Sandy, a life-time resident of Cullman, died Tuesday, August 6 of natural causes. She was born Feb 7, 1942 to Edna (Teichmiller) Griffin and James Durward Griffin. Sandy received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southern Benedictine (Saint Bernard) College. She continued her education at the University of Alabama Birmingham, from which she received her M.Ed.. Sandy taught 26 years at Vinemont Elementary School until her retirement. Sandy loved good food and socializing and had a wonderful sense of humor that was her trademark. She is survived by her children, Amanda (Mandy) Moody and Charles (Chip) Knighten, their spouses John Moody and Maria (Schoenbachler) Knighten and twelve grandchildren who brought great joy to her later years.Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 on Thursday, the 8th at Cullman Funeral Home. The funeral will be at St.Paul’s Church on Friday the 9th. She will lie in state at 10:00 with the funeral starting at 11:00. Internment will be at Welti Cumberland with Pastor John Bussman officiating.
