Lear “Leota” Pope Stevenson, age 87, of Dimondale, Michigan, died peacefully on August 20, 2016. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who captured everyone’s heart that knew her.
She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Hamilton, Alabama. She retired from Foote Hospital in Jackson after 15 years of service in 1993.
Leota is survived by her children; Charles (Sandra) Pope, Mark Stevenson, and Marjorie (Mark) Ingraham, and six grandchildren; Terry (Adrian) Pope, Dorothy (Steve) Peterson, Tana (Jake) Norris, Nicole (Jared) Reinhardt, Ben (Caryn) Hatler and Andrea (Troy) Klingler. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Mary Nell Mays.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eleven siblings, former husband, James Stevenson, son, Michael Pope, and grandbabies, Teresa Diane Pope and Andrew Nathaniel Hatler in infancy.
A celebration of her life will take place Sept. 4. at Faith Baptist Church, 3625 Hunt Rd, Adrian, MI. at 2 p.m. followed by a luncheon, and a private cemetery service.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
