Caroline Sterling – Obituary

Caroline Sterling age 84 of Hartselle, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and her family July 13, 2016 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born April 1, 1932 in Morgan County to Tate Johnston and Georgia Price Johnston. Caroline was a proud graduate of Cotaco High School, Carraway Nursing School and Athens State College. Caroline was a dedicated RN who took care of patients all over the United States, but her most dedicated years were at Hartselle Medical Center which she loved. She loved nursing and was praised by doctors, fellow nurses, and patients as a dedicated, caring but no nonsense, follow the rules nurse.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jane, and her brother George. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Crump and her husband Martin. Caroline was a dedicated grandmother and the loves and joy of her life were her grandchildren, Trey Fanning and fiancee Sarah, Elanna Fanning (Keenan Lawyer), Casey Fanning, Wesley Fanning, and Preston Crump. She was also loved by “other daughter” Katerina Tucker O’Linger, and “other sister” MaryNell Smith. She was also survived by nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Services will be Friday, July 15, 2016 at 4:00pm at the Antioch United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Fanning, Casey Fanning, Lloyd Wade, Ryan Wade, Darryl Johnston, and Keenan Lawyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Fanning, Bob Bowman, and Roger O’Linger.

In lieu of flowers Caroline wished for donations to be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Hartselle First United Methodist Church, 210 Hickory Street SE, Hartselle, Alabama 35640.

We would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff at Summerford Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed to Caroline over the last nine months.
