Margaret Alice (Cooper) Fuhr, formerly of Decatur, died peacefully in Bellingham, Washington, on June 14, 2016 from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 93.
Margaret is survived by four children; Jim (Susan) Fuhr (Bean Station, Tennessee), Janet (Bill) Robertson (Ferndale, Washington), Bob (Mary) Fuhr (Covington, Washington), and Tom (Susan) Fuhr (Castle Rock, Colorado). She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill of Issaquah, Washington.
Margaret was born on April 6, 1923, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, the second daughter of Frank and Winnie Cooper, who had traveled from England to make their home in Canada. She spent her childhood years in Niagara Falls and on June 8, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill. She was a skilled homemaker and stayed busy raising children, participating in Episcopal Church activities, and volunteering as an auxiliary nurse at the local hospital.
Margaret’s family would like to thank the employees and staff at Brookdale Bellingham (Merrill Gardens) and Bellingham at Orchard for their compassionate care. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association can be made as a memorial.
A private memorial and celebration of life will be held by the family in late July.
