ATHENS-Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning a fight that took place on Sunday, June 19 between two women in Athens:
“Sunday evening around 11:00 officers were called to a fight the 300 block of Colbert Street. When officers arrived they found two females fighting in a yard. Officers were told Letajeh Coffman and a 26-year-old female were in a friend’s residence talking when they started fighting.
It’s believed the fight started over a coworker and the coworker’s boyfriend. The 26-year-old told officers Coffman stabbed her on the left side of her neck with a kitchen fork. An ambulance was called and transported the victim to the emergency room for treatment.
Coffman was arrested for assault 2nd degree. She was transported to the police department where she was booked and then transferred to the county jail. “
