Barbara Ann Sams Bodine, age 85, of Arab Alabama, the Brashier’s Chapel Community, died Friday June 17, 2016 at Crossville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Barbara was born on March 1, 1931 in Morgan County Alabama to Sterling Clarence Sams & Vera Mary Turney Sams. She was a homemaker. She served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Barbara was a member of the Amanda King Chapter #472 of Eastern Stars. She had lived in the Brashier’s Chapel Community for 50 years.
Barbara was a member of New Brashier’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Mike Burns (Linda), Keith Bodine, Larry Bodine(Roberta), Derrick James Burns Jr. (Gaye Lynn), Steve Burns (Pam); daughter: Jennie Wyatt; a host of grand, great and great great grandchildren; sisters: Gail Lanning (Gary), Judy Starkey and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas B. Bodine, her parents: Sterling Clarence Sams & Vera Mary Turney Sams, daughter: Sandra Williams, great great grandchild: Elizabeth Hulsey; brother: Jack Sams; sister: Helen Sue Roberson.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday June 19, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Mike Shirley, officiating. Burial will be in Brashiers’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Shaw, Jimmy Cobb, Shaun Williams, Adam Bodine, Greg Bodine, Connor Bodine, David Maynard and Andrew Maynard.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. – Sunday – June 19, 2016 prior to the service.
