Wyman-Pounders-1465846154Wyman Royce Pounders, 63, Russellville, Alabama passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Helen Keller Hospital.

He lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He served as Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1983 and an active member of FOP Tri-Cities Lodge #5. He was a retired police captain with the Russellville Police Department and a retired resource officer with the Russellville School System. Mr. Pounders was actively serving as Franklin County Commissioner District #2.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 15, 2016, 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Daniel Welborn and Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the the funeral home.

Survivors include wife, Roxann Pounders; children Carrie Pounders DeArman; Cristy (Adam) Singleton, Magen (Jaradda) Sparks; sisters, Janet (Keith) Wright, Angie (Reese) Bailey, Tyra King; grandchildren, Bailey Sparks, Jace Sparks, Drake Pounders, Ayden Sparks, Charlee Kate Sparks; niece, Kim James; nephews, Houston James and Richie Landers.

Pallbearers will be David Hester, Terry Jones, James Poore, Tim Smith, Hunter Smith and Chris Nichols.

He was preceded in death by his father, Royce O’Neal Pounders; mother, Edna Louise Sanders; sister, Elizabeth Gail James.
