Homer-Hornbuckle-1460059800Homer Paul “ Sonny “ Hornbuckle, Jr., age 83 of Arab, Alabama formerly the Morgan City area, died Thursday – April 7, 2016 at his residence.
Sonny was born on November 20, 1932 in Morgan County Alabama to Homer Paul Hornbuckle Sr. and Alice Pauline Dunaway Hornbuckle. He was married to the former Nada Ann Light for 53 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Sonny was a sheet metal worker for TVA until his retirement. Sonny was very active in the community and was a member of the Arab Historical Society, Volunteered for TESA and a member of the ROMEO club in Morgan City. He enjoyed woodworking, Flea Markets and working on the Hornbuckle Genealogy, especially gathering information at the Hornbuckle Family reunions.
Sonny was a member of Ruth Baptist Church where he served on the building committee.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nada Ann Light Hornbuckle; daughters: Carol Hornbuckle, Kim Childs (Stephen), Cindy Self (Shane); grandchildren: Samantha Chandler (David), Tracey Childs, Wyatt Self; brother: Radford Hornbuckle (Nikki); sister: Katherine White. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Paul Hornbuckle Sr. & Alice Pauline Dunaway Hornbuckle; a brother: Kenneth Hornbuckle and a sister Martha Ann Brown.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 9, 2016 at Ruth Baptist Church with Brother Kenneth Smith and Brother Jimmy Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Mt Oak/Ruth Cemetery. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Hornbuckle, David Hornbuckle, Wyatt Self
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday- April 9, 2016 at Ruth Baptist Church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital
