Mary Lou Preston, age 93 of Phil Campbell, Al. passed away March 31, 2016. Mary Lou was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 75 years and was the eldest member of the church until her passing. She was known as a true prayer warrior, a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who had many talents, She was known for her quilting, all by hand, and crocheting not only for her family but also the public. Many of her quilts have found their way to Hong Kong, Germany, Florida and North Carolina. She also made 40 pillows complete with pillow cases for the Alabama Childrens’ Home in Decatur.
Visitation is Friday, April 1, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home-Haleyville, Al.
Funeral service is Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, Al. with Bro. Cayce Harrison and Bro. Mark Daniel officiating. Lie in state from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial in Antioch Cemetery.
She is survived by children, Judy (husband Gary) Raper, and Shirley (husband Larry) Duvall; brother, Guy Evans; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mamie Wates Evans; husband, Sherman Preston; daughters, Clara Gunnin, Alice Faye Ables; sisters, Edna Stanford, Juanita Preston; brother, Henry Evans.
