Joyce M. Houk, 75, of Crete, Illinois, formerly of Madison, Alabama, entered eternity on February 22, 2016, at home surrounded by family Joyce was a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church of Huntsville, Alabama.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, shopping, talking on the phone, watching it snow and helping others. But most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Brenda (Mark) McBride of Crete, Illinois, Vickie (Larry) Caschetta of Lowell, Indiana and Susan (Paul) Crouse of Lowell, Indiana.
Stepchildren; Gary (Jean) Houk of Seattle, Washington, Randy Houk of Tualatin, Oregon, Janet Houk of Toney, Alabama and Judy Houk of Madison, Alabama. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, brother William (Doris) Stewart of Columbia, Tennessee, and so many others that called her mom, grandma and friend.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents William A. Stewart and Lettie Allie Stewart. Brothers; Howard Lee Stewart, Charley Stewart and Harvey Stewart. Also preceded in death by her loving husbands Jimmy R. Gifford of 44 years and Harold E. Houk of 9 years.
Visitation will be at Burdan Funeral Home, Cedar Lake Indiana, Thursday February 25, 2016 from 3 — 8 PM. Visitation also at Berryhill Funeral Home Huntsville, Alabama Sunday February 28, 2016 from 1— 6 PM. Funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Larry W. Fincher at Berryhill Funeral Home Huntsville, Alabama at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Sisk Cemetery in Estillfork, Alabama.
