ATHENS-The Athens Police Department has issued a BOLO for a suspect in a theft investigation.  Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement on the discovery of stolen merchandise today, February 2:

“This morning investigators with the Athens Police Department were following up on the theft of a utility trailer on Lucasferry Road that occurred yesterday. While talking with neighbors they located a witness that saw a black Chevrolet Avalanche in the area acting suspicious.  Investigator Kelly Fussell remembered a person he had encountered in the past that drove a Avalanche and lived on Becky Street. While looking for that person investigators went to Hawk Ridge Road in Elkmont. When they arrived the suspect ran out of a back door. As of this time our investigators along with investigators from Limestone County Sheriff’s office have recovered a stolen four wheeler, a stolen rifle, a stolen John Deere Gator, 2 stolen trailers and a stolen motorcycle from Giles County.

Investigators are looking for Charles Dryer III; he’s a white male and 33 years old. I have included a picture of him also. Our department has two Theft of Property 2nd degree warrants on Dryer.  We are also looking for anyone that has bought or traded any property with Dryer over the past several months. Investigators know yesterday Dryer traded a trailer for a 357 pistol.

If anyone has any information about any property sold by Dryer or know his location we ask they contact the Athens Police Department at 256-233-7800 or The Sheriff’s office at 256-232-0111.”
