Rubye Mae (Armstead) Anthony (Baby Rubye) was born to the late Robert Armstead Sr. and Betty (Goodloe)
Armstead on Oct. 2, 1923. She had battled with Alzheimer’s for eight years and on Jan. 22, 2016, she was called to rest. She graduated from Burrell Slater High School.
She worked at Kriesman Ladies and Ruth’s Apparel shop for 35 years. After retirement she did alterations for many people. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church where she always remained a member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Betty Armstead; a brother, Robert Armstead Jr.; a daughter, Ruby Anite Toney; and two sisters, Cornelia Holcomb and Nettie Lee Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Izola Anthony, Chicago, Illinois, and Sibyl Harvey, Florence, Alabama; two sons, Plato Smith, Chicago, Illinois, and Nigel Anthony, Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, Kimberly Toney Neloms, Florence, Alabama, Stephanie Harvey, Florence, Alabama, Revonda (Greg) Hawkins, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Tangela (Gari) Middlebrooks, Florence, Alabama; nieces, Phillippa (Clark) Grimes, Tuscumbia, Alabama, Beverly Ealy, Detroit, Michigan, and Beatrice Ruiz, Florida; nephews, Riccardo Holcomb, Florence, Alabama, and Maurice Oliver, Florence, Alabama; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anthony will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Florence, Alabama. The Rev. Curtis Russell is officiating. Burial is in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence, Alabama. The body will be placed in the church at noon. The public viewing will be today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, is directing.
