Robin J. Melendez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pillar of the local Catholic community and a Viet Nam Veteran, left us to take his place beside Jesus on Friday, January 1st.
Born October 29, 1946 to the late J. Tony and Hazel Melendez, Robin is survived by his wife Gail of 49 years, daughter Tiffany, sons Kip (Natalie) and Joseph, sisters Nida and Lisa, brothers Gary and Steven, grandchildren Abi and Ali, and his loving extended family.
Robin was a metallurgist with United Launch Alliance.
A visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Sunday January 3rd at Peck Funeral Home on Highway 31 in Hartselle. The funeral will be at 2:00PM on Monday, January 4th at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church on Spring Avenue in Decatur. Mr. Melendez will lie in state from 1:00PM to service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be Nick Bailes, Jeff Blankenship, Lance Bresnahan, Shane Gullion, Jay Hammond and Mark McMinn.
The family would welcome donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
