Hollis Eugene Lard, 75 of Waterloo, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with David Rushlow and Vance Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Richardson Cemetery.
Hollis was a loving and devoted husband, father, and ‘Poppy”. He was an avid gardener and a member of the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronny Gene Lard; parents, Wesley and Maggie Lard; seven brothers, Ruben, James, Charles, Ollie, Howard, Milford, and John D.; three sisters, Lucille Highland, Pauline Jones, and Betty Tilley.
Hollis is survived by his loving wife, Mattie White Lard; daughter, Shelly White Lewis (Brad); three grandchildren and the loves of his life, Olivia, Connor, and Scarlett Lewis; special niece, Ruby Price; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brad Lewis, Brad Price, David Scott, Billy Robertson, John Hendley, and Mike Hamm. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Bratcher, Connor Lewis, Michael Price, Sidney Ellis, and Douglas Boatright.
The family expresses special thanks to the nursing staff of the progressive care unit at ECM Hospital and to his doctors, especially, Dr. Athanasuleus, Dr. Holden, Dr. Sedgi, Dr. Webb, and Dr. McFall.
